Japanese automakers' stocks fall amid Trump's tariff plans

Shares of Japanese automakers plunged following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada.

Investors fear that the new tariffs could disrupt operations for companies with manufacturing plants in Mexico, a key export hub for vehicles shipped to North America.

On Monday, Toyota Motor Corp. saw its stock drop 5.5% in early Tokyo trading, marking its steepest decline since September. Honda Motor Co. shares fell 7.5%, while Nissan Motor Co. plummeted 10.3%, recording its sharpest intraday drop since late December.
