The broker had to take such a step because of Brexit. IG UK has issued an announcement requiring EEA customers to transfer their accounts to IG Europe. For those who did not have time to verify before January 8, 2021, their personal accounts were simply closed.

IG also stressed that at the time of the transfer of the account, all open positions are closed. Bidding will be reopened in IG Europe. For its part, the company guaranteed that it would not suffer any financial damage.

To go to IG Europe, clients simply need to follow the instructions provided by the broker. Video verification was organized daily from 8 am to 12 pm (UK time). The procedure itself took only a few minutes, but verification of documents took up to 24 hours. Note that not only IG faced problems due to Brexit. Other companies have had similar problems.
