eToro expands its proxy voting service
Trading and investment platform eToro has expanded its proxy voting service to include shares of non-US companies.
This solution will provide eToro users with more options when making investment decisions.
By partnering with Broadridge, eToro users, including fractional share holders, will now be able to participate in the decision-making of companies in whose shares they have invested by voting proxies on issues such as mergers, executive compensation, and environmental and social goals.
By voting by proxy, eToro users can avoid intermediaries or costly travel to shareholder meetings.
The proxy voting process:
eToro sends an email to the shareholder each time a vote is taken on a proposal for client-owned shares supported by Broadridge. "Once a decision is made, Broadridge will combine your vote with others and officially register it with the company on your behalf," the broker explained.
Initially, the service was only available on eToro for US stocks. In 2023, 145,000 eToro users took advantage of the proxy voting feature. The stocks that received the most votes from eToro users in 2023 include Apple, Amazon, AMC, and GameStop.
