The markets are awaiting the Federal Reserve's decisions on interest rates in the United States

The two-day meeting of the Federal Reserve on April 30 - May 1 stands as this week's centerpiece, captivating the attention of markets worldwide.

Market participants are keenly awaiting the U.S. interest rate decision, a pivotal factor influencing the dollar exchange rate, Treasury yields, and the prices of gold and Bitcoin.

Traders and investors are particularly eager for Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's remarks at the conclusion of the meeting, especially given that no updated economic forecasts are expected this time. Powell's speech is anticipated to be even more significant due to his recent comments on the pace of inflation growth, likely setting a cautious yet somewhat hawkish tone. Earlier predictions by the Fed of multiple rate cuts this year have diminished, reflecting a shift in market expectations.

Despite external pressures on the market, including volatile labor data and reports of potential interventions in the dollar-yen exchange rate, a sense of order prevailed at the Fed meeting. The U.S. dollar continued to strengthen, and yields on two-year Treasury notes climbed to six-month highs.

On the futures markets, there is barely any expectation of even a single quarter-point rate cut by the end of the year. The Fed meeting has allowed the markets to remain relatively calm in the run-up to this event, except for a sharp decline on Wall Street following hotter labor data and a volatile dollar-yen exchange rate.
